I am currently reading "Dancing in the Distraction Factory" in hopes of finding some answers to who we are, and who we were before MTV made its appearance.
"Even though MTV is a music icon, it is true that the channel does not have a responsibility to maintain a focus upon music. This does not make up for the fact, however, that this change in programming focus has made an impact on music as we know it. They have currently made a change in how the public portrays music and the characteristics of music have suffered because of the lack of interest in how it actually sounds."
..."the channel is not nearly as inspired as the original was during its beginning and it lacks creative energy."
We are an easy, cheap, used, fast people. Sadly enough our music reflects us, or rather, we reflect it.
